I feel as if I have nothing to say that hasn’t already been said. Her stories make my heart ache. Like I have to physically rub my chest to ease the pain and I LOVE it. I feel so much and I’m not accustomed to it so my hearts hurts. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Penny’s stories make you feel human. Their friendship was so sweet and each scene really shows how much they are willing to do for the other. I loved the second half and found it satisfyingly romantic and steamy, but without the tensions and struggles and foundation of the first half, I don’t think it would have worked as well. Penny Reid’s stories are always one of a kind. She takes risks, and thinks outside the narrow minded so-called ideal of what we as romance readers should be looking for. Her stories are always something fresh, innovative, and thought-provoking. Once again, she followed through with that expectation because a big central theme of this book is robots. That’s right, you heard me correctly. When I first heard that she was integrating this into the plot, I admit that I was a little bit uncertain how she could pull this off.
But that’s really quite minor and all-in-all Penny Reid has created another smart, sexy couple to fall head-over-heels in love with and who have that fabulously real-feel. Think the answer is obvious on that one. The tribe of women that Penny created in this series is the envy of many.
Anyway, I love this series, really do. And I adore this hilarious, close-knit (See what I did there? …. Ignore me) group of friends. It warms my heart to see the friendships and romances from the previous books here again, and it truly makes me adore them all the more. She is sweet and adorable and GOOD.
